My Trip to Vermont
My husband and I went to Vermont during Spring break for a much needed vacation and to celebrate our 4th year anniversary. We left last Easter Sunday and we drove to Burlington,VT for about 5 1/2 hours. It was a fun and very scenic drive to VT. Finally,we arrived at our place of stay, The DoubleTree Burlington. It was a very nice hotel with very friendly staff. Our first adventure: Downtown Burlington. The place is not rocket science so everything is easy to find and walking distance. Unfortunately for us,everything is close except for some restaurants and coffeeshops. But that did not deter us from exploring the small town. That night, we went to this Italian restaurant, Trattoria Delia ,which we did not know we have to make reservations.Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait that long. The ambiance is nice and cozy. I ordered their Tagliatelle con Funghi while hubby got their Tagliatelle alla Bosciala which is pasta with wild boar.Food was excellent!!! Mine tasted better that even hubby can’t stop eating it.It was a great first night in Vermont despite almost everything is closed. The following day is nicer. We started with breakfast at this hidden place called Magnolia. Food was soooooo damn good! I think that’s where I gained my extra pounds! But nevertheless, hubby and I enjoyed it.I had their Huevos Con Diablo. From the name,it’s really a sin!
It’s 2 eggs with soft polenta, beans and pico de gallo with sour cream. The green stuff is green habanero chili that I added up for some spice.Btw: I finished everything on the plate!Hubby got a Citrus-cured salmon with hash browns and salad.
I know his is healthier! But I’m on vacation!
We went there again the following day coz it’s our last before heading out to Manchester. We went to Echo Lake Aquarium Center which is interesting. But for me it’s nothing special. Kids would enjoy it but it’s nothing that I haven’t seen. Then we planned to go to Shelbourne Farms to see how cheese is made.Unfortunately for us, after walking about a mile ( I think), we did not find it. We think it’s closed coz nobody’s there! Grr!!!! Why did that man from the store told us it could be closed??!!We left and drove to Shelbourne Museum. Ladyluck is not with us that day because it’s undergoing renovation and won’t be open till May. Drat!!!Instead of feeling disappointed, we looked into the brighter and funny side. So it was okay, lesson learned. Before heading out to Manchester,of course we went to Magnolia again for their delicious breakfast and stop by Lake Champlain Chocolate store . I ordered a hot Mocha coffee which is sooooooo damn good!!!!Of course I sampled their chocolates too which are hmmmmmm!!! Hubby had their ice cream where their chocolate fudge is sinfully good!!! Just thinking about it…..

YES!!!I’m a crazy chocolate-lover!
Off we go to Manchester which is a 2 hour drive. We stayed at this nice bed and breakfast inn which at first scared me because we’re the only ones there. But we really do enjoyed our stay! The owner Bert is an awesome cook and storyteller! He won numerous awards for best lodge and chef!!! I had the best omelet made by him!!! There’s really nothing to do in Manchester or in Vermont during Spring. My advice is to go there in the Summer,Fall and winter. And we’re definitely coming back! Overall, our experience in Vermont is quite interesting and relaxing. It’s something hubby and I enjoyed where we explore and try different things.
